Chikmagalur is a very popular trekking spot

Mullayangiri is the highest peak in all of Karnataka and is the best place to get a perfect view of the sun rising from behind the mountains.

The view was worth the effort.

The trail took us about an hour. We left the base camp around 4 in morning, reached the peak by 5 am, the view was breathtaking, literally. For beginner, i would recommend this. The mountain is giant rock. The stairs have been cut through it and when u ascend some part you will feel like leaning left, then some part leaning right. Stairs are like 60% of trail. Rest is some dirt and its mostly rocky. Sunrise view is lit. Wind is also gusty at peak. Take warm hoodies with you. After sunrise view, went to offer our prayers to the temple at peak. During descent since its already morning, u will be able to get coconut water or other fruits from the shop. Very refreshing.
